For me : GUI = Frontend.
I'm still able to do thing the text way. For me it's a require stuff @ home. But still when i'm lazy I use the things that goes around my prefered tool : konsole. So I use KDE.

You forgot web based, although I suppose that may fall under one of the above depending on your browser.

Anything that works cleanly via ssh (and I don't mean X11 tunneling) is great. Being able to leave my programs running in a screen session and reconnect to them from home, uni, work, anywhere where I can jump on the wifi with a Palm is great.

Console is not GUi, but still is UI. And as for me, it is the only UI, that is suitable for my needs here... But the very best thing would be the UI, which is like Rio in Plan9 (windows with terminal emulators that are replaced with GUI app in case of) with fullscreen mode for every window and the abiulity to manage windows like in Screen.
