LinuxEXPO 2007 Prague - TODO UPDATED

As every year, the biggest middle-european linux session takes place in Prague. Since Hack&Dev grows on popularity really fast we will also have a stall there and will be presenting fruits of our effort (feel free to come and visit us). The meaning of this article is a bit different though. It should be meant to help us organize ourself a bit, prepare for LE and put together all the tasks we have to finish before LE in order to succeed there.

Google Summer of Code

Linux4Palm

Hack&Dev participates in GSoC as a part of handhelds.org community. If you think that you can improve something - go on and fire a project

Ideas:
Finish any handheld port (writing drivers for bcm203x or t|x wifi would be also nice )
Improve gentoo-embedded support for handhelds (in fact this is an idea for Gentoo Foundation, not for hhorg)
Make some use of HnDE codebase and create Opie4

H&D Summit '07: Prague

So it is over. Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend it so I hope that Marex, Sleep Walker, Slapin or somebody would write an article about it. And photos, give us some photos!

Planned downtime

Okay, Hack&Dev server is now somewhere in the another building You can notice that download speed is better (for me it is two times better ). Also, most of the packages I wanted to update have been updated without shuttingdown lighttpd&mysql, however some are still pending (gcc, mysql, php). I'll inform you when I'll be updating them

2.6.20-hnd0 in SVN !!

Updating Hack&Dev kernel FINISHED!!!

We are now on 2.6.20-hnd0

Z31: Don't cha wish your zire was hot like this ?

Palm Zire31

Phire has recently added MMC and LCD backlight support. Still, there are some deficiencies, but overall results are impressive. Soon Z31 will become pretty hot thingy, don't cha wish it ?

Marvell: wanna xScale specs ? Sign NDA first

Talks

Recently I tried to find some information about PXA 26x used in Tungsten T3 on Intel's site. And you know what ? There is nothing, no technical references, no specs, no Developer's manuals.

Nothing. Nil. Zero.

In 2005, when TT3 porting process only started, I spent a lot of time over internet to find anything about my PDA's internals. And Intel's site was one of best, providing a lot of documents. We all know that PXA family was nicely supported in the kernel etc.

So I decided to find out what happened. The answer is simple. Intel has sold xScale business to Marvell. Yes, our most-ever-liked company that produces WiFi chips for several Palm-branded PDAs.

I have console but no keys... Touchscreen Keyboard is here for you

Linux4Palm

Over the last few days I've been working on a new input system based on MessagEase's tap and drag system, see: demo.
I think this system is wonderful because it fits a large number of keys into a small area, including all the punctuation and symbols necessary for Linux use and can be used with a sticker stuck onto your silkscreen area.

I know I am a bit late with this but last week I was too busy to write an official announcement. Anyway, it is better to be late than not at all.
